Bald Mountain – the view from the observation platform at gołoborzu

Łysogóry have 15 km long. They are old mountain range composed of hard quartzite and shale formed at the beginning of the Paleozoic era, more than 500 million years ago. They are distinguished by quartz rubble – areas covered with blocks of rock occurring on the northern slopes. It is believed, that when the Pleistocene in the foreland of the mountains stopped in the ice sheet, higher than today quartzite playing protrude above the eternal snows. Freezing water burst from massif, rock blocks with a bang swooped down, forming on the slopes of rubble. Skirted these vegetation. Against the background of the forest from a distance you could see strange clearing – Rock Baldness, from where did the name Łysogóry. Sediment called boulder fields…

For the boulder fields on Bald Mountain comes to a path leading near the TV tower. For the convenience of tourists built steel staircase and viewing platform. Here you can enjoy not only the rocky rubble. Beautifully see Bodzentyńska Valley, and even distant Starachowice.
