Date made: 2010-08-23

Kopřivnice church and monastery was founded by Nicholas comes Bogoria in times of Casimir the Just. He brought here the monks of the Burgundian monastery of Morimond, one of four subsidiaries of the parent for the Cistercian monastery in Citeaux (łac. Cistercium). The monks arrived on the scene in 1185 year, and the completed church was consecrated in 1207 the Bishop of Cracow PELKO.
History is not kind to the Koprzywnica too kindly, because the church and the post-monastery complex of buildings bears the marks of numerous reconstructions and repairs made in accordance with the assumptions of the later architectural styles. Today we can observe among other things, the remains of Gothic cloisters in the form of traces of sharp bends on the northern wall of the church and the west wall of the only surviving, the east wing of the monastery. Gothic interference peaks are also raised complemented by brick.
