Museum of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Maius, is located at the intersection of St.. Anna and the Jagiellonian.
Collegium Maius is the oldest university building in Poland. Its history dates back to the year 1400, when King Wladyslaw Jagiello gave the University the corner tenement house of bladder with Rzeszotary. Up until about the mid-nineteenth century appearance and internal layout Collegium remained largely unchanged. Carried out in the years 1840-1870 reconstruction of the Collegium Maius in neo-Gothic style with the purpose of the building at the headquarters of the Jagiellonian Library completely changed his appearance and character.
Leaving College by the Library in 1940 possible to conduct in the period 1949-1964, the initiative of Professor. Karola Estreichera, comprehensive renewal, combined with the dropping of the neo-gothic reconstruction. Collegium Maius regained its original appearance before 1840 year. Then it was designed for the Museum of the Jagiellonian University, found refuge in the old collections of the university (works of art and memorabilia) and a rich collection of scientific instruments.
