In 1242 Duchess Anna, widow of Henry the Pious, founded a Benedictine monastery in Krzeszow imported from Opatovice. Her grandson Bolek And Raw, the Duke of Jawor, in 1289 bought a good monastic, a w 1292 founded a Cistercian abbey, who came from Henryków.

The monastery church became the mausoleum of princes swidnicko-Jawor. Were buried here: Bolek And Raw, Bolek (son died early Bolek I), Bernard świdnicki, Henry I jaworski, Henry II świdnicki, Bolek II Small. Thanks nadaniom princely and private abbey became one of the largest landowners in Silesia. Hard times during the Hussite Wars, Thirty Years' War and the Silesian Wars, when the area became part of the Prussian state. In 1810 there was a dissolution of the monastery and take his goods by the State. In the years 1919-1940 Benedictine monastery ruled resettled from the monastery in Prague.

Polish name of the town in the form of a book Gryszobór “Brief jeografii Szląska for the initial study published in Głogówek in 1847 Silesian mentioned writer Joseph Lompa. 3 September 1940 monastery took the authorities of the Third Reich. The Benedictines were forced to leave the monastery. The monastery placed m.in. Carpathian Germans, from 5 October 1941 Silesian Jews before their deportation to the Theresienstadt camp, winter 1944-1945 German deportees from Hungary as a “gości Führera”. At the end of the war in the monastery collections deposited Prussian Library in Berlin.

In 1945 the village was connected to the Polish. Its current population was displaced to Germany. In 1946 monastery included ss. Benedictine nuns from Lviv. In 2004 the monastery was declared a Historic Monument. Currently in Krzeszow done “Festival of Religious Song and Patriotic”.
