Collegiate Klimontów

Klimontów was founded by John Zbigniew Ossoliński in 1604 r. Parish Church called “farny” or “infułacki” comes from the foundation of the Grand Chancellor George Ossoliński the Crown at the time of Ladislaus IV. The church was built in the years 1643-1650 designed by Lawrence Senes in the Baroque style. The church is oriented. Construction of the church began as a unique elliptical plan, one of the strangest and most original monuments of our architecture seventeenth century. The foundation act of 1640 r. approved by Bishop Peter Gembicki in 1648 r., was a temple to the dignity of the collegiate church of pastor mitred prelate Monsignor. The benefit of the miter was kept to the 1950, when the transfer of Fr. inf. T. Zadęckiego to another parish, has not been granted the privilege of his successor. The church was destroyed by the Swedes in 1656 r., saved from annihilation only by the inf. Valentine Radoszewskiego years 1721-58. Infułaci successor Joseph Michalski and Wojciech Box Radoszewski (later Suffragan Bishop of Cracow) brought the temple to its original appearance. Church consecrated a Bishop Michael Kunicki 1741 r. In this century a lot of care in the restaurant of the church put ks. St. Sparrow. Murals made by an artist Jerzy Hoppen. In the chancel stucco made by John the Baptist Falkoniego from Italy. Confessionals probably brought from Vienna, come from the foundation hr. Anthony Ledochowski. Above the entrance figures: St.. I Józefa 4 Evangelists and the inscription: Ite ad Joseph. At the church the coffin of the founder and his family, heirs and infułatów klimontowskich. Among the pastors especially distinguished themselves in work the following priests: Fr. Paul Rzecicki – first pastor, inf. Thomas Marczewski, inf. Andrew Willamowicz, inf. Józef Michalski, inf. Jan Karski, inf. Valentine Box Radoszewski, inf. Wojciech Box Radoszewski – sufragan krakowski, inf. Stanislaw Jastrzebski, inf. Lawrence Kuklinski and Fr. Thomas Zadęcki – last mitred prelate Monsignor in Klimontów. The parish has a parish records from 1847 r.
