Karlovy Vary (czes. Karlovy Vary, niem. Carlsbad) ? a city in western Bohemia, the capital city of Karlovy Vary. It is located in the Basin Sokolowski, at the foot of the Slavkovský, at the confluence of Ochrzy and Hot.
It is the largest Czech spa and the largest of the cities making up the so-called. triangle in West Spa (Karlovy Vary ? Marianske Lazne ? Frantiskovy). According to data from 2010 r. Karlovy Vary count 53 907 people (18. in the Czech Republic). The city area is 59,10 km?.
History of Karlovy Vary begins 1350 r., when the future emperor Charles IV decided at an outdoor riverside warm, in forests łokieckich, put a hot spring village called hot baths near Elbow, renamed then from the name of Charles (Karl) at Karlovy Vary. Twenty years later, 14 August 1370 r., the emperor himself gave the town city rights.
